Susan Elder joined Jenne in 2012 after 25 years of experience in marketing and corporate communications. Prior to joining Jenne, she served as Chief Marketing Officer with the American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland, where she was responsible for marketing, sales, communications and operations, including the warehouse and customer service. She drove major marketing, communications and sales initiatives that increased the organization’s visibility amongst its various audiences resulting in increased revenue and support for the organization in the region.
Prior to the Red Cross, Susan spent 10 years with Invacare Corporation, a Fortune 500 company that manufactures and distributes medical products used in non-acute care settings. She was responsible for building Invacare’s corporate marketing function, including advertising, co-op programs, graphic design, merchandising, public relations, trade shows and events, and the website. She led a major branding initiative for Invacare which positioned the brand as it is still portrayed today, including the development and selection of its tagline “Yes, you can.”
Susan’s expertise extends to branding, media relations, investor relations, social marketing, CRM processes and market research. She served on the Board of Trustees of two Cleveland-based organizations -- Midtown Cleveland and Open Door Christian Schools. Currently, she is a board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County where she also volunteers as a “Big,” providing coaching and mentoring to a 13-year old boy.
Susan has earned numerous industry recognitions throughout her career including the 2009 Distinguished Marketing and Sales Award from the Sales and Marketing Executives of Cleveland. She was a 2010 nominee for the American Marketing Association Nonprofit Marketer of the Year Award for the work she did while with the American Red Cross; and was recognized by the CMO Institute as a finalist for the CMO of the Year Award in the small-to-mid-size organization category. Susan was recognized by UBM Channel’s CRN Magazine as one of its “2012 Women of the Channel.” This award honors women who have made a name for themselves as influential leaders within their own company, and the IT Channel as a whole. She also was recognized with the SoMe Impact Award at the 2013 Midwest Social Media Summit for the social media program she developed for Jenne.
Susan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Public and Corporate Communication with a double major in Journalism from Butler University.
